Carol Leigh was a sex worker and an advocate for people in the sex trades.
How would my data be used?
Survey responses from about 400 adults across Oregon with experience in the sex trades will be combined and studied to create a community report.
THIS REPORT WILL HELP PROJECT IMPACT OREGON COMMUNITY LEADERS:
• Identify the needs of adults in the sex trades across Oregon.
• Seek more resources for Oregon adults in the sex trades and their families.
• Educate Oregonians about the sex trades.
• Support policies and services that protect the health, safety, and human rights of adults in the sex trades.
How can I take part?
• Talk with a Project Impact Liaison to see if you qualify.
• Review the possible risks, protections, and benefits of taking part in the survey.
• Ask any questions you have.
• If you choose to take part, the Liaison will ask for your verbal consent.
• Then they will give you a link to the survey which takes about 60-minutes to complete.
• Liaison will remind you to complete the survey in a place where you feel safe.
• You can start, pause, and return later if needed.
• After you complete the survey, you will receive a unique code and a link to redeem a $100 electronic Tango gift card for use online or in stores.
How is my privacy and confidentiality protected?
The survey asks detailed questions about experiences in the sex trades, including experiences that may involve criminalized activities.
HERE'S HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY:
• The survey does not collect your name.
• The survey does not ask for any information that could identify you.
• The survey is completed on Qualtrics, a secure encrypted survey platform, used in health research. Participants' IP addresses are immediately deleted after survey completion.
• Anonymous survey answers are stored in a password-protected database.
• Survey answers may be used in future research, but they will never be attached to your name or any identifying information.
• You can also protect your privacy by clearing your browser history after taking the survey.
Will the survey be emotionally upsetting?
Some questions may bring up strong feelings.
Questions ask about experiences that may have involved poor or unfair treatment, violence, trafficking, family separation, the legal system, and other harmful experiences.
HOW WE WORK TO PROTECT YOUR EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING:
• The survey uses respectful, non-stigmatizing language.
• The survey does not ask only about difficult experiences. It also asks about your interests, skills, values, strengths, goals, hopes for the future, and what you want others to understand about the sex trades.
• You may skip any questions.
• You may stop the survey at any time.
• During the survey and at the end, you will see links to helpful services.
• Liaisons may also share resources with you.
To protect both your privacy and your emotional well-being, you should complete the survey in a place where you have enough privacy and/or supportive company to feel safe and comfortable.
What are the potential benefits of participating?
Your saved responses may help Project Impact Community Leaders better understand and advocate for the needs of Oregon adults in the sex trades.
Do I have to Do This Survey?
No. This survey is completely voluntary. There are no penalties for deciding not to participate, or for stopping participation at any time. Your decision to participate or not will not affect your relationship with any Project Impact Liaisons or Community Leaders.
Thank you for considering Project Impact Oregon!
